Castle Hill- Huddersfield

Castle Hill is a Hill with …wait for it…a tower (ha! weren’t expecting that were you?)

It’s a grade II listen Victorian lookout tower built around 1897 for Queen Victoria’s Jubilee.  It is almost never open (I’ve been up once) but we go to Castle Hill every Christmas morning.  There used to be a nice pub that we got a drink in before coming back home for lunch but the sillies tried to renovate without planning permission and after they knocked it down they weren’t allowed to rebuild.

We still go for a walk around each year, you can either park at the bottom and walk to the top or drive straight up there and park on the top.  In the funnest years there’s been ice and snow, last year was super windy but with beautiful blue skies.  This year was grey and miserable.  We didn’t stay too long this time as it was quite rainy and my baby niece needed a nap.
